Posters for the living room

Frequently asked questions

What size poster fits above a sofa?

Aim for artwork covering about two thirds of the sofa's width. For a three-seater of 200–220 cm, one 70x100 cm print works, or two 50x70 cm hung side by side.

How high should a poster hang in the living room?

The centre of the artwork should sit around 150 cm above the floor, roughly at eye level. Above a sofa, 20–25 cm of clearance over the backrest is a good starting point.

One large print or several small ones?

One large print reads calmer and is easier to hang well. Several smaller ones add life but need even spacing. 5–8 cm between frames usually works best.

Which colours suit a living room?

Start from the textiles you already have. A room with plenty of daylight can take saturated colour; a darker room gains more from warm earth tones and lighter motifs.
