Beige posters

Beige is the safest colour on a wall, and the most underrated. It clashes with nothing, it warms a room without darkening it, and you rarely tire of it.\n\nAgainst a white wall, beige gives enough contrast for the artwork to read without taking over the room. Against a darker or painted wall it works the other way round: the lighter passages lift the wall instead of disappearing into it.\n\nThe colour suits wood, linen and wool particularly well — which is to say most Nordic living rooms and bedrooms. If the room already has oak or pine in it, beige posters pick up the same tones and tie the space together.\n\nA light oak or natural frame reinforces the effect. Black gives more contrast and a sharper look, but then the frame is the first thing you see.
