Behind the scenes: how our posters are made

The motifs are made with artificial intelligence, selected by people, and printed only when you order. Here's the whole story, told openly.

Why AI-generated art?

We don't hide that our motifs are made with AI. The technology lets us explore styles, colours and compositions quickly, and makes it possible to offer a large, varied selection at an accessible price.

We don't pretend the motifs were painted by traditional artists. Being open about how something is made is part of being a store you can trust.

Curation: where people come in

Generating an image is easy. Finding the ones that actually work on a wall is the hard part. Every motif is reviewed before it reaches the store. We look for:

  • Mood: does the motif bring calm, contrast or joy, and does it fit into a real home?
  • Details: we discard motifs with odd hands, distorted shapes or other obvious AI flaws.
  • Composition: does it work both from a distance and up close, and does it hold up when printed large?
  • Cohesion: does it sit well with the rest of the range, so it's easy to combine with other posters?

That last point is why so many of our motifs work well side by side. It's also where our ready-made gallery walls start.

Printed only when you order

We don't keep a warehouse full of posters. Each poster is printed only when you order, on 200 g/m² paper with a matte or silk finish. That means less waste, and a poster made especially for you.
